Liberal Arts faculty member Aaron Jaffe was born in Baltimore. He specializes in Kant and German idealism, critical theory, social and political philosophy, and the history of philosophy. His research investigates the historical sources and structures of norms and critique, and current research includes the intersection of Kant’s political critique and forms of property. In addition to tutoring in the Writing and Communications Center, he teaches the core (Ethics; Society, Politics, and Culture; Citizenship, Arts and Politics), and his recent elective courses include Philosophy of Black Liberation, 19th-Century Philosophy, Marx as Philosopher, and Feminist Philosophy. He is the author of Social Reproduction Theory and the Socialist Horizon: Work, Power and Political Strategy (Pluto Press). View more published research.
