Fredric Fehleisen was born in Glen Cove, N.Y., and performs regularly with Concert Royal and other period-instrument ensembles in New York. He has appeared with the Smithsonian Concerto Grosso, Hanover Band, Grande Bande, Brandenburg Collegium, and the Classical Band and has been heard on period-instrument ensemble recordings for the Sony Classics, Newport Classics, and Pro Arte labels. He was on the music history faculty at, Brooklyn College from 1987 to 1989 and has been on the faculty at Mannes College the New School for Music since 1989. He joined the faculty at Juilliard in 1996. Fehleisen studied violin at Oberlin College, the Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College, and the City University of New York. He attended graduate school at the City University of New York.
