Zlatomir Fung (BM ’21, cello) won first prize at the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Competition—he was the youngest cellist ever to win the competition. Other career highlights include being artist-in-residence—including touring with the orchestra—with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (2023-24). He has also toured worldwide, including appearances and concertos with the New York, London, Rhode Island, Sacramento, and Colorado Springs philharmonics, the Baltimore, Detroit, Seattle, Milwaukee, Utah, Rochester, Winnipeg, Tenerife (Canary Islands), and Kansas City symphonies; and the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra. He also gave the U.K. premiere of Katherine Balch's whisper concerto with the BBC Philharmonic.  

Fung made his recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 2021, and he has appeared at the Verbier, Dresden, Janacek May, and Tsinandali festivals as well as the Cello Biennale, La Jolla Chamber Music Society, ChamberFest Cleveland, and Aspen Music Festival.
