Frank Huang, who was born in Beijing, has been the concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic since 2015 and joined the Juilliard faculty in 2016. Previously he served as concertmaster of the Houston Symphony (2010-15) and was first violinist of the Grammy Award-winning Ying Quartet. Huang, who studied with longtime Juilliard faculty member Robert Mann received his bachelor's from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2002. He won first prize in the 2003 Walter W. Naumburg Foundation Violin Competition and in the 2000 Hannover International Violin Competition. He has served on faculties at Eastman School of Music, Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, and the University of Houston.
