French hornist Jennifer Montone, of Virginia, is principal hornist with the Philadelphia Orchestra. She was previously principal hornist with the St. Louis Symphony (where she began her tenure in 2003). She was associate principal hornist with the Dallas Symphony from 2000-03 and third hornist of the New Jersey Symphony. She has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and New York Philharmonic, and has worked as a substitute musician on several Broadway shows. Montone has performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the La Jolla Chamber Music Festival, the Sante Fe Chamber Music Festival, the Bellingham Music Festival, the Spoleto (Italy) Chamber Music Festival, and the Marlboro Music Festival. She was awarded the 2006 Avery Fisher Career Grant and was formerly an adjunct professor at Southern Methodist University. She received her bachelor’s degree from Juilliard, where she studied with Julie Landsman.
