Alexander Technique

About

Fanny Wyrick-Flax has been teaching Alexander Technique at The Juilliard School since 2023. A native New Yorker, she is an alumna of the Juilliard Pre-College Division. She graduated from Bard College with bachelor’s degrees in flute performance (B.M.) and mathematics (B.A.), and from New England Conservatory with a master’s degree in flute performance (M.M.). Wyrick-Flax completed her Alexander Technique certification at Riverside Initiative for the Alexander Technique with Nanette Walsh, Lauren Schiff, Caren Bayer, and Ariel Carson. She is a member of the American Society for the Alexander Technique. 

Wyrick-Flax has presented introductory workshops and masterclasses in the Alexander Technique at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, The Juilliard Preparatory Division, Orchestrating Dreams, and the Sapientia Initiative’s “AT for All”. She is an assistant faculty member at the Riverside Initiative for the Alexander Technique and was previously an assistant faculty member in Alexander Technique at Manhattan School of Music and at The Fordham Theatre Program. 

Before completing her Alexander Technique certification, Fanny was an active freelance flutist and piccoloist in the New York City area. She has performed with ensembles including the American Ballet Theatre, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, and Contemporaneous; and on concert series such as Lincoln Center Presents, Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival, and Bard Music Festival.
