Academy Award Nominee and Origin Composer Kris Bowers Headlines Juilliard’s One-Night-Only California Festival Performance

The Program Celebrates Bowers and Brings Together Juilliard Student and Alumni String and Jazz Musicians 

WHAT: This one-night-only program curated by Kris Bowers (BM ’10, MM ’12, jazz studies) is part of the inaugural California Festival, a two-week celebration of new music across the state. ARRAY x Juilliard's concert spotlights music that has inspired Bowers and will include a preview of his score from the new film Origin, his most recent collaboration with filmmaker Ava DuVernay. During the program, Bowers will discuss his artistic journey and creative process with Juilliard Arnhold Creative Associate at Large and faculty member Nadia Sirota (BM ’04, MM ’06, ACJW ’08, viola) as he joins Juilliard student and alumni string and jazz musicians in performance. 

WHO: Curated by Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning composer Bowers and hosted by Sirota with Juilliard’s president, Damian Woetzel.  

WHERE:  Presented at ARRAY in Los Angeles, a multiplatform arts and social impact collective founded by filmmaker Ava DuVernay.
